The foundation stone for the original St James Anglican Church was laid by the Bishop of Bathurst, Rt Rev Dr C E Camidge on 13/9/1897. It records: St James - Church - September 13 1897 - MDCCCXCVH

The foundation stone for the relocated/rebuilt St James Anglican Church was laid by the Archbishop of Sydney, John Charles Wright on 24/8/1918. It records: These stones were laid by - The Right - Rev J C Wright DD - Archbishop of Sydney - 24th Aug 1918 - when the church - was removed to this site.

The foundation stone for the present church building was laid on 1/12/1984. The text on the foundation stone is not known. Information/photographs are invited.

Comments

The present Minto Anglican Church building was opened on 25/5/1985.

The original St James Anglican Church was built at the corner of Minto Road and Cumberland Road and was opened on 5/2/1898. It was dismantled after a final service on 21/7/2018 and rebuilt at its present site. A dedication service for the rebuilt church was held on 19/11/1918 and conducted by the Dean and Archdean of Sydney, Albert Edward Talbot. It was consecrated on 14/10/1934 by the Archbishop of Sydney, Howard K W Mowll.
