The St Peter's Anglican Church, cemetery and school location were determined by Governor Macquarie in 1810. However, the church building did not begin until 1837, and until it was completed the school-house, which had been erected about 1810/3 was used as a school/church.

(Sydney Herald - 22 July 1841)  "CONSECRATION OF RICHMOND CHURCH. The new church of St. Peter's at Richmond was consecrated on Thursday last by the Lord Bishop of Australia. On the previous day His Lordship held a confirmation at St. Mathew's church Windsor, on which occasion a large number of young persons were admitted to that interesting rite. The church at Richmond is by no means a handsome structure : it is built of brick and the tower is surmounted by a wooden spire in miniature completely out of proportion ;' and the roof is too large. The interior of the church is formed of flat unornamented walls, too wide for the length, and looks like a dissenting chapel. The font is of two varieties of the neighbouring free-stone. The communion table is fenced in by a neat railing, and the pulpit and reading desk are on the south side. The pews are large and roomy. Notwithstanding these architectural remarks, we congratulate the inhabitants of Richmond and the Kurrajong upon their new place of worship ; and hope that they and their descendants will long enjoy therein the means of grace and salvation."

A cemetery adjoins the church, with some very early pioneer graves.

No other details are known about the church. More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 3/5/2018 & 31/1/2021.
