The first St John's Anglicab Church building on the site was of whitewashed wattle and daub construction erected in 1841/3. It was consecrated by Bishop Augustus Short on 13/12/1848. The current building was erected in 1860, opened in 1861 and consecrated by Bishop Hale on 19/4/1863. A graveyard, established in 1862, adjoins the church.
