An historical plaque records: A small, neat cottage with the impressive title of Mission Hall was built about 1903 for religious servictes by a sect of the Plymouth Brethren. Its leader, Sam Adams, lived on the premises where space was somehow made for Sunday morning and evening services. Anyone from the congregation was invited to give testimony at the evening service. An afternoon Sunday School was attended by children from the local areas.

The cottage is visible in early photographs, looking rather isolated on the open hillside particularly before the Sunday School was built on the edge of the forest beyond. The Mission Hall eventually became a family residence.
