[A document placed under the Foundation Stone in part read: This Foundation Stone of St Paul's Presbyterian Church, Armidale, was laid by the Rev Thomas Johnstone, of Armidale, on Friday, the 11th day of February, in the forty-fourth year of the Reign of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Victoria, and Anno Domini 1881, the Right Honourable Lord Augustus William Frederick Spencer Loftus, GCB., being Governor of the Colony.
