Brushgrove Uniting Church - Former

The former Brushgrove Uniting Church has closed, and the property has been sold (2024). The church had been part of the Far North Coast Presbytery of the Uniting Church Synod of NSW & ACT. The first Wesleyan worship service in Brushgrove was organised and held on 5/8/1868, in a shed at the wharf in Donaldson Street. The congregation sat on bags of corn or on planks across bags of corn. The pulpit was also a bag of corn. The first church building was opened on 8/6/1873 by the Rev G Rutledge and the Rev R Allen, and was located near the public wharf. The present church building was opened in 1901, and replaced the earlier structure. The chuch celebrated the centenary of the present building in 2000. The church became part of the Methodist Church at Union in 1902, and part of the Uniting Church in 1977. A Sunday School was also associated with the church.
