The first service - on this site was held in 1901. A - wooden church was built in 1904 and - replaced by this building in 1969.

The Rye Presbyterian Church operates in conjunction with St Andrew's at Sorrento, and is in the Presbytery of Flinders. The present church building was opened in 1969 and replaced an earlier wooden structure opened in 1904. From 1892, when the Anglican church was built, until about 1892, the congregation met in the Anglican Church building at 35 Lyons Street.
