Comments

The present Armenian Apostolic Church of Holy Resurrection, Chatswood building was consecrated on 27/2/1966, by Bishop Komitas Der Stephanian. It had previously been the East Chatswood Baptist Church. The building has been significantly renovated and expended over the years to encapsulate the essence of more typical Armenian Church architure.

The Armenian church in Australia had its beginnings in the 1940s, when services were held in the Methodist Church in Kings Cross.

Their first church building was at 108 Campbell Street, Surry Hills, which was consecrated on 11/11/1957 by Bishop Terenig. The building had been purchased from the Presbyterian Church. It was later sold to help fund the purchase of its present Chatswood site.

More historical information/photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 6/8/2020.
