The Sydney Somang Uniting Church (Korean) now meets in the former Lakemba Congregational Church building. No other details are known about this Sydney Somang church.

The first School-Church building for the Lakemba Congregational Church, was a weatherboard structure erected about 1872, on land donated by Mr Miller. It was erected at a different site to the present church building, but was relocated to the present site, on wheels by a team of horses in 1899. Due to changing location names, the church name changed as follows: Punchbowl Congregational Church 1872/Essex Hill Congregational Church 1872-1899/Belmore Congregational Church 1899-1912/Lakemba Congregational Church 1912 onwards.

The present building was opened on 15/10/1960 and dedicated by the Rev A Steele-Craik. The church celebrated its centenary on 23/4/1972.1 It became part of the Uniting Church in 1977. No other details are known.

More historical information/photographs of the church(es)/congregation(s) are invited. Photographs uploaded 10/10/2020 & 3/2/2021.
