The former St Joseph's Catholic Church, Muttaburra held its final service on 29/1/2023 with Bishop Michael, and the property has now been listed for sale (2024). In a Bishop's letter of 12/5/2022 it was stated that the church no longer holds regular services, but occasionally services were conducted by visiting priests. The church had been part of the Parish of Aramac and the Diocese of Rockhampton. The church had its beginnings with the appointment of Fr James Cumberland to the Western District.  The early services were held in the Courthouse until the first church building was opened on 2/9/1894. On 20/2/1943 the church building was destroyed in a cyclone. Services where then held in the RSL Memorial Hall until a new church, present building, was erected/opened in September 1948. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 7/11/2020 & 10/6/2022.
