The Poowong Uniting Church is part of the Presbytery of Gippsland and the Uniting Church Synod of Victoria & Tasmania. The church also functions as part of the Lock Poowong Rural Cluster, including Kernot, Lock and Strzelecki churches. The original Poowong Uniting (Wesley Methodist) Church began about 1878 (see separate entry - Pioneer Chapel - 3988). The right hand side of the church building was formerly The Ranceby Union Church building, which was relocated here in 1981 and joined to the existing building. The combined building was then opened in 1981. More historical information/photoghraphs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 8/3/2020.
