Comments

The former Torbanlea Uniting Church building is now privately owned.

"The Torbanlea Uniting Church, originally called the Primitive Methodist Church, was opened on Sunday 22nd March, 1891. Prior to the building of the Church, services were held under a tree near Top End, then in the hall called the Reading Room, for a number of years. The pioneering minister was the Rev E Knight, who was a preacher on hire from the British Conference. He was followed by the Rev John Prowse who has the distinction of being the officiating minister at the opening of the Church..." (Cullen, Phil - "Torbanlea State School 1887 - 1987 Centenary (Centenary Committee, 1987) SLQ call no Q 994.32/TOR/C1, p16).

More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photograph uploaded 19/04/2016 & 10/11/2020.
