The former St Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Esk closed about 2001, and the property was sold in 2003. The establishement of the church was strongly supported by David McConnel and his wife Mary, who purchased the land in 1873 which became the first church building site. The first recorded event in the church building was a service conducted by the Rev David Watt on 12/2/1876. On 28/4/1876, the Rev Watt was inducted as the minister of the church. With the arrival of the railway the town's commercial centre gradually shifted away from the church's site. This resulted in a decision to move the church building to its present location in October 1887, close to the manse whose land had been purchased by David McConnel. All these lands purchased by the McConnel's were later gifted to the Presbyterian Church. Over the years a Sunday School was established, additional buildings constructed and alterations made to meet the needs of the congregation. The church did not join the Uniting Church in 1977, and continued until about 2001, having served the community for about 125 years1. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded  2/12/2018.
