The former St Eugene Catholic Church, Adavale property is now privately owned. Early church services were held in the rudimentary bush school, Adavale (see photograph three - note the cross on the roof). Services were then held in the Town Hall when it was built in the first decade of the twentieth century. The date of the former church building is not known, but believed to have been in the mid 1920s.

The restored church was moved to its present location in McKinley Street, after the disastrous flood of 30/3/1963, which saw the church wrenched from its original foundations, (on the corner of Skinner St. and Shepherd St.) and swept several hundred metres downstream to come to rest against a ghost gum, badly damaged. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 27/11/2018 & 22/3/2019 & 30/10/2019.
