(Note: no 'To the glory of God' reference).

A foundation stone on the hall records: Aspley Methodist Hall - To the glory of God - Laid 21st September 1958 - by Rev S G Monro - President of Conference.

A plaque on the fence records: 25th Anniversary of - The Uniting Church in Australia - 22 June 2002 - 'Gift of Grace' rose - planted by Mary Taylor.

Comments

Methodist services began in Aspley about 1918 in the Aspley Assembly Hall. The foundation stone for a church was laid on 8/10/1932. The hall was opened on 23/11/1958. The Apley Methodist Church and St Philip's Presbyterian Churches continued to worship as separate congregations following the formation of the Uniting Church in 1977. On 1/1/1984 both congregations joined together. The foundation stone for a new church was laid on 14/10/1984. The original church was removed to make way for the new church.The new church opened on 24/11/1985.
