An earlier The Church of the Holy Nativity, Cooroy building, which was dedicated on 21/3/1914, was destroyed by a cyclone on 19/2/1954.

The present church building replaced the one destroyed by the cyclone. It was dedicated on 6/11/1954 by Archbishop Reginald Halse.
