Archbishop Kelly, In the presence of a large gathering, laid the foundation stone of St. Joseph's Church, Rozelle, yesterday afternoon. The new church, when completed, will be 104ft. x 50ft., and will seat 1000 persons. A large number of cheques and donations in cash were laid on the foundation stone yesterday afternoon." The first church building at the Rozelle site was erected in 1881. It was destroyed by fire in 1911. The present building was erected in 1912 to replace the one destroyed.
(The Daily Telegraph - 28 October 1912) "NEW R.C. CHURCH AT ROZELLE- Archbishop Kelly consecrated the new St. Joseph's Church at Rozelle yesterday afternoon. The building which will accommodate 1000 worshippers, will cost £6396 with furnishings. A sum or £808 was subscribed yesterday, leaving £2871 to be yet raised."
