Comments

This former Emu Swamp Methodist Church was opened about 1873, and closed after about 102 years. The property was then sold. Although the early days of Methodism in Emu Swamp are sketchy, it would appear that services were being held at least by the 1850s, in private homes or property, until the church was erected. Over the years the church building was renovated and altered to meet the needs of the congregation. When the Orange Methodist Circuit celebrated its centenary in 1960, Emu Swamp was the oldest preaching place in the Circuit1. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 17/2/2015 & 18/6/2021.
