(Freeman's Journal 10 March 1921)  "Coogee Plans a Beautiful Church. The Archbishop Lays the Foundation-stone; Big Ideas and Generous Hearts. The foundation of the new building was blessed by the Archbishop of Sydney on Sunday afternoon, in the presence of a large and representative gathering."

Designed by Albert Edmund Bates in the neo-Byzantine style. It was inspired by Westminster Cathedral in London.

(Sydney Morning Herald -14 November 1921)  "ST. BRIGID'S CHURCH, COOGEE. --<>-- The new church of St. Brigid's, which has been erected upon a commanding site over looking Coogee, was opened and blessed yesterday afternoon by Archbishop Kelly, In the presence of a large congregation."
