The Neurea Union Church is currently in recess, not closed. It is hoped that regular services will resume in the next twelve months as the community recovers from the recent drought.

The land on which the church was built was granted on 20/5/1886. The first church, a vertical timber clad construction, was built and opened in 1889. A ceiling was added in 1904. Only the concrete steps and one of the wooden post piers that once supported the building remain after the church was destroyed in a severe storm in 1939.

The current church was dedicated on 18/2/1956 with the Rev W McAlister (Anglican) Rev A Holland (Presbyterian) and Rev K Doust (Methodist) officiating. The Baptist Pastor was also present.  A large crowd from the community was in attendance.

The corrugated iron church was built by Mr J Dutton, with local timber used for the frame and the floor. With donations from the community and voluntary labour the church was debt free by the time it opened. It was used predominantly for Anglican, Presbyterian and Uniting Church services, although denominational services were discontinued in 1998. It came to life again in December 2000 when Judith and Malcolm Crockett began arranging non-denominational services.  When they left the district in 2009, services again ceased. They have now returned to the district and the church is again available for use by the community.

The current trustees are Malcolm Crockett (a relative of one of the first trustees), Judith Crockett and Peter Brien, (a descendent of one of the first trustees). Other grantees and first trustees were David Ferguson, John McMullen and William England.

More historical photographs of the church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 23/12/2018.
