The first Cairns Primitive Methodist Church was established in Sachs Street in 1886. (renamed Grafton Street, in the 1930s).The timber-framed church was relocated to Aplin Street in 1923 and became known as the Central Church Hall after a new brick church was built on the corner of Sachs and Aplin Streets in 1937 (see http://www.cairns.qld.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0010/40888/CairnsThematic.pdf p104). The building was damaged by a cyclone on 23/1/1906 when it was dislodged for its foundation. (See photograph 3). More historical information/photographs of the church are invited. Photographs uploaded 20/1/2018.
