The former St Alphege's Anglican Church, Penong has now closed, and the property has been sold. The church had been part of the Diocese of Willochra. The current brick building was dedicated on 11/2/1962 and consecrated in May 1973 by Bishop Bruce Rosier. It replaced an earlier wooden structure, imported from England, which was opened and dedicated by Bishop Thomas of Adelaide, on 20/9/1909. The final service in the church building was held on Sunday 10/3/2019, and included a christening as well as the deconsecration of the building by the Venerable Gail Johannsen. No other details are known. More historical information/photographs of the former church/congregation are invited. Photographs uploaded 27/6/2019.
